How to create an Objective Cycle (OKR planning timeframe) in IMPACT

Objectives and Key Results are a powerful way to track professional and personal goals. By using Objective cycles, you can assign your Objectives to specific planning cycles and monitor that progress for your team by each cycle.

 We made Objective Cycles easy to set up and customize to fit your unique company needs.

☝️ Note: Objective Cycle is a required field for each OKR. You cannot create an OKR without the Objective Cycle.

1. Go to “Objective cycle”

To create Objective cycles, go to Workspace settings → Objective cycles

 This section is available only for the user that has the role Admin.

 Here you can see all Objective cycles split into sections:

Current cycles (cycles where “Start date” ≤ today ≤ “End date”)
Past cycles (cycles where “End date” < today)
Upcoming cycles (cycles where “Start date” > today)

Objective cycles move from the "Upcoming" to "Current", to "Past" sections automatically.

2. Create a new Objective cycle

Press the Create cycle button.

Input the details of the cycle:

Name (for example: “Q4 2020”);
Start and End dates (for example: “10/01/2020 - 12/31/2020”);
Description (info to help you identify the Objective cycle and focus);

☝️ Note: Objective cycles are not created automatically. You need to create and manage them yourself according to your company needs. We create only the first few cycles when you create the workspace for the first time.

3. Manage / Edit Objective cycles

You can have any number of Objective cycles.

To Edit cycle, go to Workspace settings → Objective cycles, select the cycle you want to edit, and select the Edit cycle in the context menu.

Changes to the Objective cycles will be reflected in all OKRs in this cycle (if you change the name, Start/End date).

4. Export / Archive Objective cycles

You can archive any cycle.

All OKRs in the archived cycles won’t be visible to other team members. Archived cycles disappear from all filters and selectors (on My Objectives, Dashboard, team/user profile, etc.). No new Objectives can be created in the archived cycle.

You can always go back to your archived cycles and Export them (in .CVS format, option in the context menu) or Unarchive cycle.

5. Delete Objective cycle

To delete the cycle, you need first to archive it.

In the Archived section, press 3 dots to open the context menu and press the Delete cycle to permanently delete the cycle.

☝️ Note: This action cannot be undone. We recommend exporting and saving the cycle before deleting the cycle.

Once you created your Objective cycles, your team can start setting their OKRs
